Cement Standards

The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) establishes the rules for CE marking of construction products and aims to ensure that the industry can work with up-to-date harmonised standards aligned with environmental policy objectives.

Under the CPR Acquis process for cement, a new standardisation request has been issued, forming the basis for the ongoing revision of the European harmonised cement standard EN 197-1. This revision, led by CEN Technical Committee 51 “Cement and Building Limes”, will introduce a performance-based approach and integrate the low-carbon cement standards EN 197-5 and EN 197-6. This will enable a wider range of low-carbon cements to be placed on the EU market.
